Longa Studio is an architecture practice based between London and Galicia, working across residential refurbishments, extensions, new-build homes, interior architecture and selected architectural explorations in the UK and Spain.
Juan studied architecture at the ETSAC (Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de A Coruña), graduating in 2010, and went on to complete a postgraduate degree in Architectural Restoration at the same university. That combination, design and heritage, construction and details, has stayed with him since.
After graduating, Juan began his career in Galicia, working for a construction company in A Coruña on residential and industrial projects, gaining hands-on experience on site and across all stages of design and technical delivery. It was that grounding in construction that he brought with him when he moved to London.
His career in London began at All Design, the studio of award-winning architect Will Alsop, before moving to Tim Flynn Architects, where he worked on a large-scale performing arts centre for UWC Dilijan College in Armenia, a technically complex project that sharpened his understanding of structure, coordination and construction delivery. For the past several years he has been part of Maxwell & Company London, a practice focused on high-end residential architecture, where he leads projects from concept through to completion.
Longa Studio works on house extensions, refurbishments and new builds. Projects where Juan is involved personally at every stage, from the first conversation with a client through planning applications, technical design and material choices, to the final details on site. The practice works closely with clients, consultants and contractors to deliver carefully considered and highly detailed projects.
The practice operates between London and Galicia. Remote collaboration has made this duality more workable than ever, and Juan has no intention of choosing one over the other. Both landscapes inform his work.
Juan is a registered architect with the ARB and a member of the RIBA in the UK, and is registered with the COAG (Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Galicia) in Spain.
